Made semi-porcelain china at first.  Formerly the Strong Manufacturing Company and
the,
French and Saxon China combined by O.H. Sebring in 1929. In 1930, a fatal merger took
place.  O.H. Combined the
American Chinaware Corporation  which included the Sebring
Manufacturing Corporation, of which Strong Manufacturing Company was a part.  This
merged approximately 10 potteries and one enamel factory and failed in 1931 in bankruptcy.
The Strong Manufacturing Company was one of the few still operating successfully at the time
of the collapse.  It once again was named Strong Manufacturing Company in 1932 by
courageous men of a committee to save a factory of the time sold 1,000 shares at $50.00 to
350 stockholders. The plant was purchased from The Central National Bank of Cleveland for
$50,000.  They tried marketing a wringerless mop to keep afloat.  They created vegetable pans
for the new electric refrigerators of Westinghouse.  Eventually they were making about 95% of
all pans bought by refrigerator manufacturers.  By 1938 They made the first parts for the
electric roaster.  They also manufactured mess kits and canteens for WWII.  They could make
10,000 canteens and 10,000 cups every 24 hours.  By 1948, they had annual sales of
$6,750,000.00 and 1050 employees.
