The Jeannette Glass Company began in 1898 and made both glassware and pottery in
Jeannette,
Pennsylvania.  The company went through many transitions.  Jeannette bought and
operated the H
arker China Company of Chester, West Virginia in June, 1969.  In early
1970
, They purchased the Royal China Company. After a major fire, operations were
continued in the
French Saxon building which Royal had purchased in 1964. By 1976, the
entire
Jeannette company was sold to the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. The Jeanette holdings
then filed for bankruptcy in December, 1982.
The company finally closed under ownership
of Nordic Capitol
/Bank One Corporation on March 15, 1986.
